Montezuma’s Revenge

Oh but you don't understand at all he said
you will soon but not nearly soon enough
the third reich only needed three months
to undo everything and they didn't have
the internet

you think you elected a president but you
did not pause to look at his resume you were
dazzled by his audacity you told yourself
and your friends at the club that he could
turn straw into gold

and look! there are the shoes to prove it
I knew from the very first tweet he said
knew even then that something was amiss
with this bedazzler and then it came to me
as if in a message from the gods: he is one
we've been waiting for

the one to bring it all full circle the glory
of the Aztecs returned in ersatz bling Cortéz
never paid his own way either and he too
ended up with the deal of a lifetime, his name
in marquis lights

it's not so hard when you're willing to do
whatever it takes

hear me out he said: your failson commander
has come not to make your country great
but to loot it in just reward, to carry off the
sable pelts and leather sofas, the chandeliers
and the name,

oh, the name! the branding rights alone
will net billions.
