You don’t have to live the life others expect of you. You don’t even have to live the life you expect of you. You are freer to choose than you may think.
Not that there won’t be consequences. There are always consequences.
Social pressures being what they are, if you choose to live an unconventional life, you have to keep choosing it, over and over, again and again. Social pressures — external and internal — will continue to pull at you over the arc of your life. Very few decisions are really once and for all.
That may seem like the bad news. But it’s good news, too: lots of opportunities to re-examine your path, review your priorities, and choose, over and over, again and again.
