I suppose it helps them to justify their own choices to be mean to pelpoe who make different ones. I've never come across anyone in person who was antagonistic towards me about radical unschooling because if the person is right in front of me I can pretty much tell if they're truly interested or if they're just looking to judge me. So I tailor my answers accordingly. Mostly, as soon as the word "homeschool" comes out of my mouth the person's eyes will glaze over, anyway, as they think through the list of things they think they know about me now (you know, religious zealot, over-protective mother to freakish child, etc.) so the conversation doesn't tend to last long.[]
